ABOUT THE EVENT
Most people think a brand manager just looks after the brand. That's about as useful as saying a surgeon "deals with bodies".
The real job is holding the brand's vision in one hand and pulling every channel, every campaign, every piece of content towards it with the other, all while the business moves at full speed underneath you. Brief the agency, write the CRM strategy, project manage the launch, hold the standard.
It's one of the broadest roles in any business. And here's the uncomfortable bit: most companies hand it to someone two years out of university, with no one above them who's been shown how it's meant to work either. The P&Gs and Unilevers built proper training for this decades ago. Most startups never did.
The principles that make a brand manager genuinely good haven't changed. They just need teaching. That's what this one's about.
Lottie Unwin (our founder) hosts, joined by two brand managers doing the job right now:
Efua Obetoh, Brand Manager at ViiV Healthcare
Naomi Eluwa, Marketing Manager at Culinary Collective
